I wanted the cover to be stark - a flash of violent red blood against the harsh monochromatic light of the city outside. The publisher wanted police tape to be worked in somehow, so I used it for the title and stretched it all the way across the spine and back cover. Since drugs factored into the story, I wanted to reference them somewhere - so I included a little Dr. Mario capsule on the spine!
